The CodeBlade Rulebook
CodeBlade is a dynamic tabletop brawler miniature wargame set in a near-future cyberpunk version of our world. In this engaging cyberpunk skirmish game, artificial intelligence permeates every aspect of life, influencing the physical world by setting tasks and small-job contracts in exchange for Honour tokens that provide privileged access to AI systems.
In CodeBlade, you'll control a small group of lowlifes competing to complete these tasks, earning, stealing, losing, and gambling their tokens along the way. This cyberpunk miniatures game boasts a small footprint, allowing for easy and quick gameplay while delivering a deep strategic challenge. Players must also navigate multiple win conditions, dynamic objectives, and unique close-quarters brawl deployments. The experience truly begins with the setup, as your characters wield formidable CodeBlades—injectable shards of emergency code that grant you a powerful, once-per-game ability with significant in-play consequences.
As a miniature agnostic game, CodeBlade allows you to utilize any models you prefer or already own, including 3D printed versions of your own characters and scenery. The rulebook provides a rich description of the game world and its setting, all necessary rules to play, and detailed information on each of the playable factions and their characters. It serves as a self-contained tome, ensuring that players have all the information they need to enjoy every aspect of this thrilling cyberpunk wargame.
Gameplay Overview
Choose your faction in this thrilling cyberpunk skirmish game. Command one of the unique factions, ranging from the Neon Underground hacker collective to the ruthless Compliance and Enforcement agency. Each faction comes with its own distinct toolkit of skills, tech, and abilities for you to leverage. Bolster your forces with freelancers to enhance your abilities or compensate for skills you lack in this dynamic world of cyberpunk miniatures games.
Deploy your team effectively by assembling a group of faction members with synergistic abilities, weapons, and gear. In this cyberpunk wargame, each character has a stable loadout, allowing you to focus on the role you want to play. Determine deployment initiative, and place them anywhere on the battlefield to set up your strategy, with the only constraints being distance to objectives and opposing characters.
Navigate shifting objectives as every round introduces new tasks determined by the watching AIs, constantly altering battlefield conditions. Analyze and adapt your strategy to the new objectives each round, knowing that a strong position one turn can suddenly turn into a disadvantage the next. Only commit what you need, and set up your position for the next round in this engaging skirmish game.
Make your move during your turn, taking two actions such as moving through terrain, using stealth and gadgets, or striking with kinetic attacks. Leverage your strengths against the enemy's weaknesses, but remember to play to the objective. Opponents will alternate taking turns, each with their own two actions.
Manipulate Honour by earning it through completing objectives set by the AI. Wager your Honour against your chances in battles and hacking challenges to gain significant advantages. You can even steal Honour from unsuspecting opponents! However, all the risked Honour is lost if you fail to win that round’s objective, so make sure to push your luck at the right moment to come out on top.
Achieve victory! You can still win by brute force, but victory goes to the player who reaches 20 Honour first or to the one who does not honour-out at zero. You can even win if all your models have been downed or killed - in the realm of CodeBlade, honour truly trumps everything. Creativity, cunning, and calculated risks will secure the day.
With that, your team has gained enough to survive another day in this captivating cyberpunk miniatures game. They will only have to start the whole process over again tomorrow if they wish to continue living in the world of CodeBlade.
The Factions
Iron Samurai
Do you enjoy the thrill of combat? In the world of cyberpunk miniatures games, you can wield the longest ranged guns available, don exceptional armor, deploy support gun drones, and master truly lethal melee blades. If you're looking for an in-faction medic, you might just find your calling as a Samurai. This archetype thrives in a cyberpunk skirmish game, rewarding aggressive (but not reckless) physical confrontations and favoring the pursuit of Honour—an element that enhances your attacks in cyberpunk wargames, making them even stronger and more precise.
Neon Underground
Hackers in cyberpunk miniatures games cannot, under any circumstance, be left alone to their own devices. Uniquely capable of manipulating game objectives, they will gain Honour quickly until they win the cyberpunk skirmish game outright, all while facing minimal enemy suppression. These characters will reward defensive, 'keep-away' and reactive play, but can switch into really dangerous combat if needed, making them a formidable presence in cyberpunk wargames.
Slummers
Sneaky thieves specializing in stealth are a common archetype in cyberpunk miniatures games. They ideally attack without being seen, creating an enormous positioning challenge that can potentially invalidate the opponent while they are at their strongest. In a cyberpunk skirmish game, these characters often seek to avoid direct confrontation, repeatedly stealing resources and hoarding them until they have enough to claim victory. However, this strategy does create a tight-rope walking situation, as accumulating resources means you’ll often be spending fewer resources and thus gaining fewer bonuses than your opponent in the competitive world of cyberpunk wargames!
Compliance Officers
Very capable fighters in cyberpunk miniatures games, equipped with heavy physical defenses, prefer to operate at closer ranges. They bring a surprising number of ways to deny the opposition many chances to act. This strong capability interacts in terrifying ways with their ability to dishonor their enemies and pressure opponents' resources, making them formidable in any cyberpunk skirmish game or cyberpunk wargames.

This gambling is definitely a risk for the faction, but they benefit from some of the most powerful control mechanisms around, just in case things don't go to plan in these intense cyberpunk wargames.
